Immersive Sound Experience & Small Bites

Explore the sights and sounds of our property through this 90-minute private tasting experience at Bell Mountain Ranch. Guests will be self-guided through an audio experience developed by local sound artist, Hugh Livingston. Following the walking tour, our wine educator will guide the guests through a flight of five current release and member-exclusive wines thoughtfully paired with a seasonal, local cheese plate.

Bell Mountain is the heart of everything we do at Medlock Ames. In the spirit of preservation and sustainability, we leave the majority of our 338 acres in their natural state. The working estate includes 50 acres of vineyards, 650 olive trees, an orchard, and a market garden for seasonal vegetables and flowers, along with our state-of-the-art winery and barrel cellar.

Self-Guided Audio Tour

Follow a map around Bell Mountain Ranch while co-founder, Ames Morison, chats to you about regenerative farming and our fight against climate change. Our winemaker, Abby Watt, will explain why Cabernet grows best at our Ranch and other members of Medlock Ames will educate you on our sustainable practices in this pre-recorded audio series.
Insider Tip: The walk usually takes between 30-60 min. Please dress comfortably with appropriate footwear!
Taste
Organically-farmed wines

Taste

After your stroll, enjoy six current releases and member-exclusive wines with one of our wine educators. Thoughtfully paired with a seasonal, local cheese plate alongside market items from our organic gardens. Most of our wines are crafted in small batches due to the limited number of planted vines on the property.
Insider Tip: At the ranch, you will try some of our lowest production, member-allocated wines.

Sustainability is the heart of what we do. Along with farming organic vineyards we harvest olive oil, operate seven solar arrays, and employ a full-time vineyard team.

Ames is transitioning the property to follow regenerative farming practices. He studied organic farming and ecological health in the peace corps of Guatemala.

Tips

bullet
A destination for Cabernet lovers. Alexander Valley is home to beautiful, rich, and complex soils along with warm afternoons which are ideal conditions for this grape variety.
bullet
Visit the 100-year-old Historic Healdsburg Tasting Room, only about 20 minutes from the Ranch. Once a country store turned gas station, turned biker bar. We renovated the building in 2006.
bullet
Make sure to try the organic estate Olive Oil and Blackberry Grape Jelly.

Medlock Ames Winery

Medlock Ames Winery
Since the 1990’s we have been pioneers in the area by farming organically with no artificial chemicals, fertilizers or pesticides used to grow our wines. Instead, we promote healthy, living soil that nurtures, feeds and protects our vines and embrace age-old, low impact farming methods, like crop diversity, allowing the vineyard to shine through in the fruit.
